The War Memorial

  • History
  • 7a Hexham Street, Warkworth 0910

The War Memorial on Church Hill: Commemorates soldiers who served in World War 1. It was moved to this site from the old bridge in 1934. The park is also home to the band rotunda which stands as a memorial to King Edward Vll and to King George V erected in 1911. Two special trees also commemorate lost loved ones; a rimu tree and, from Kos, Greece, a plane tree believed to be from Hippocrates. The white crosses in the Field of Remembrance are in honor of those local soldiers who fell between 1914-1918.
